The Greater Washington Association of Teachers of Foreign Language (GWATFL)  invites you to participate in our Spring Conference for language educators, featuring sessions that focus on innovative programs, emerging trends and best practices.

Assessing Performance toward Proficiency: Best Practices and Their Application in the Classroom

Assessments are critical for world language classrooms. But what is it we are measuring, and how can we ensure we are measuring what we are teaching? This keynote will explore best practices in test development to bring performance toward proficiency into the classroom.

About Camelot Marshall 
​Camelot Marshall, Ph.D., is the Principal Assessment Manager at the American Council on the
Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL).  Prior to joining ACTFL, Camelot worked
as the assessment manager at American Councils for International Education, where she was
instrumental in developing the online proficiency-based assessment for Russian for high school
students. She extended the Russian assessment model to include assessments in nine other critical
languages. In addition to developing foreign language assessments, Camelot facilitated professional
development seminars for high school teachers across critical languages, focusing on standards-
and proficiency-based curriculum planning across all grade levels.

We recommend parking in the Cathedral’s underground parking garage. There is very limited parking on the Cathedral grounds and in the surrounding neighborhood.
